About how much would it cost to have a necklace turned into a ring?

I have a diamond necklace that I would like turned into a ring. It is stacked with silver and a cold loop attached (where the chain is strung through). I would have to get the gold part removed and then, of course, add a band for the ring. About how much would it cost to have this done (including purchase of a silver band) and would I have to go to a specialty shop or just a normal Jewelry Repair shop? Thank you!

If you know the size of the stone you can purchase a setting through the Internet fairly cheaply. The problem you’ll have is mounting the stone.Which requires a special tool and the knowledge. There are snap mounts that you can do yourself. They aren’t as safe and secure though.Any jeweler should be able to remove the stone and put it in a new finding.There will be a huge markup on the actual ring though. That’s where they make their money.Actual value of a 2 ounce silver ring is about $1.50. So if you can buy the band direct you will save big time.I tried looking up sources for settings.I van’t find the one I used to use. What you could do is go on Ebay and buy a silver ring in your size with the same size stone and have the jeweler mount it in it.
